Reiki is a form of healing particularly famous to be known as hands-on-healing, with it origins in India and the East dating back many thousands of years to the time before Christ and Buddha. The original name, disciplines and techniques of Reiki were lost due to the traditional method of passing knowledge from generation to generation by word of mouth. Exactly when this ancient art of healing disappeared is very difficult to say. However, we do know that it was rediscovered by a famous Japanese monk named Dr Mikao Usui. It was in fact Dr Usui who fascinated the healing technique the name REIKI Reiki is a combination of two syllable Japanese word meaning universal life force. Although the proper Japanese pronunciation for this word is RYE-KEY, it has been westernised and called RAY-KEY. Here Reiki means universal, omnipresent – present everywhere at the same time. Esoterically Reiki means spiritual consciousness, the omniscient wisdom from God or the higher self. Ki is the non physical vitality that gives life to all living things. Many cultures understand and recognize the importance of Ki energy and how it impacts our lives and well-being. Ki energy can be activated for the purpose of healing and well being. When you feel healthy and full of enthusiasm, the flow of Ki energy in your body is high and unencumbered. Life seems easier to deal with and you have a higher resistance to illness and disease. However, when your Ki energy is low because maybe you are under stress or feeling unhappy and tired you will be more susceptible to disease and sickness. Your attitude will be generally negative and you will find it difficult to deal with life’s challenges. Ki is the very essence of the soul; it leaves the body when a person dies. Reiki is holistic, it works on the body mind and spirit by stimulating a persons own natural healing abilities. The blocked emotional and physical elements that lead to illness and disease are cleared. Reiki is neither positive nor negative; it is in fact the highest and most profound vibration of life. Divine in origin, it allows us all to become one with all things alive in our world. Reiki is pure unconditional love and joy bringing all who experience and embrace it principles together in harmony. The skills and techniques associated with Reiki are so simple and easy to learn that even small children and adults can equally comprehend and incorporate this ancient form of healing into their lives. Regular contact with Reiki will bring the recipients mind body and spirit into balance. It will also help prevent future creation of illness and disease.

Notice my title which suggests that it is hard to find the full story about depression medication. Depression seems to be almost endemic and the CDC in America estimates that up to 40 million people will suffer from this debilitating condition at some point in their lives.

What should you look out for if you think you or a loved one might have depression. A doctor’s visit is essential but here are some warning signs. Gloom and doom, pessimism, discouragement, helplessness and a complete lack of any will to do activities which were once a pleasure could be the alarm bells. If it seems that the reaction is out of proportion to the event or it is going on for a considerable time, then this may be another indicator.

Depression medication now usually is composed of what we call SSRIs which are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. These have the effect of increasing the levels of serotonin, a neurotransmitter in the brain which is a key element in our moods.

When you start taking this depression medication, lots of strange things can happen as the drug takes some time to kick in. Some people never get used to the side effects and many report highs and lows, insomnia, pains in the chest, nausea, anxiety. Celexa and Ativan can raise levels of Prolactin and cause breast pain. While some patients are fine and respond well to anti depression medication, there are a large number of patients who get even more depressed when they have to cope with the side effects. Is it really a case of taking a sledgehammer to crack a nut?

The other alarming thing about this depression medication is that although the fear of a rise in suicides may have been exaggerated, the fact is that the drug companies themselves do not know how exactly these drugs work on our brains. There are also lots of questions about the long term effects and nobody wants to go round like a zombie for years.

I think this is why patients are now turning to natural treatment for depression rather than the hyped up anti depression medication. There are too many unanswered questions whereas a herbal remedy for depression is much less devastating and just as effective in my view.

In this article I’m going to talk about anxiety and dizziness that results from it.

The words ‘feeling dizzy’ are often used as a general term to describe anything from a vague feeling of wooziness through to feeling as if you’re about to faint or pass out.

The term ‘dizziness’ means different things to different people. For some it could mean a feeling of being light headed; for others it could be a feeling of being unsteady on your feet and a bit off balance. Either way, it’s not a pleasant experience!

You may feel that the room is spinning, or that it’s your head that is spinning instead. Some people have described it as feeling that’s a bit like when you are on a boat on the water – the floor or ground appears to be moving, mimicking the movement of the waves.

These symptoms could be signs of having an inner ear or balance problem so it is always very important to see your doctor and have things thoroughly checked out just as a precaution.

Having said that, many people are surprised to know that dizziness can be a sign (and a symptom!) of anxiety.

Many anxiety sufferers experience dizziness quite often and then start to feel anxious about when it might happen again. And so the cycle of fear – anxiety -dizziness starts all over again. If that anxiety dizziness then leaves you feeling as if you’re no longer in control then this can make you feel a bit panicky and even more anxious. And so the cycle goes on.

HOW TO COPE
A lot of people who experience anxiety dizziness say it helps to sit down as soon as you can. If you try this, do make sure that when you stand up again you get up slowly as getting up too quickly can cause a temporary drop in your blood pressure. This can immediately put you back where you started, with a light headed feeling.

You may find it helpful to focus on one point straight ahead of you, and concentrate on that until you feel that the room has stopped spinning around you. Again, as with the sitting down, make sure that you move slowly once you start to feel better.

Hyperventilating can also lead to a feeling of dizziness. As this is one of the main symptoms of a panic attack we can immediately start to see where the connection between anxiety and dizziness comes from. Over breathing when under stress can cause light headedness and a sense of loss of balance.

It may sound a silly thing to do but you can ease these symptoms straight away by breathing in and out of a paper bag. What this does is to increase the level of carbon dioxide in your blood which then helps to ease the symptoms. Don’t be embarrassed to try this trick!

If you’re not able to do this then try breathing slowly and deeply, really sucking the air right into the bottom of your lungs. Breathe out slowly and try to keep a gentle, slow rhythm to your breathing. Keep this up for several minutes until you start to feel better.

HOW TO PREVENT ANXIETY DIZZINESS
Living with anxiety dizziness every day can be very wearing. Sufferers may find that their lives become restricted because of the fear that it will happen again.

The problem with this though is that it creates a cycle of fear, which leads to more anxiety which of course then leads to more dizzy spells.

There are sensible precautions that you can take such as cutting out refined sugars and artificial sweeteners from your diet, taking vitamin B6 supplements and making sure that you are not dehydrated.

However, the only long term solution is to deal with your anxiety problems. Reduce your anxiety to an acceptable level and you’ll be surprised at how your anxiety dizziness will disappear as well!

Abstract
This work is a summary of a doctoral dissertation which was successfully defended on the 4th of June 2009 by Jerzy Korzewsky at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow,Poland.

The aim of this dissertation is to present a new training intervention method-the Intervention -Emotion Regulation Training Method- and to discuss the findings of an intervention program based upon it. The purpose of the program was to enhance the personal resources of workers for coping with stress by improving their emotional management.

The Intervention – Emotion Regulation Training Method is based upon existing intervention programs which have been used to help workers deal with organizational stress. The method can be described in the context of two theoretical constructs: “emotion regulation” and “emotional work”, conceptualized as interrelated phenomena. The concept of emotional work refers to qualities of interpersonal interactions at work. It is defined as a way of dealing with someone’s own emotions and the emotions of other people in the workplace. Emotion regulation is defined as ‘the processes by means of which people can influence the emotions they have, when they have them, and how they express these emotions’.

In recent years researchers have become more aware of the need for designing new intervention programs. Their thinking is based on the conviction that effective stress management programs will improve one’s personal and professional well-being while reducing some of the negative consequences of stress.

The work was carried out at AGH University of Science and Technology in Cracow. One hundred and twenty female administrative workers took part in the study. The data was collected with the use of carefully selected methods, each adopted thrice to observe the dynamics of possible changes over time: before the intervention, a week after and a month following.

The results of this research revealed significant statistical differences between the experimental and the control group. The experimental group demonstrated a greater tendency to apply the adaptive ways of coping, and were less likely to use maladaptive coping strategies. A significant improvement in the general mental health of the experimental group was also observed.

Anxiety Disorders Symptoms can take a toll in your life. Developing them will take away any confidence and joy you have in your life. The brush with anxiety attacks is so scary that you have started to worry about your body and would do anything to avoid the attacks again. Although this is completely normal, you are actually manifesting the development of anxiety disorders symptoms.

In short, anxiety disorders symptoms is being developed when anxiety is not being properly handled. Worrying about the attacks and developing a fear in them will, overtime, actually get you caught up with a little bit of obsession. When this obsession becomes a habit, it turns into what is normally known as an anxiety disorder.

In order to counter this obsession of fear, which unfortunately has turned into a daily habit, you will need to ‘re-habit’ yourself. Using a little trick called “Distraction”, you can actually trick your body and mind into countering this disorder.

So how does distraction actually comes into play with anxiety?

The art of distraction has always been used in our daily lives without us knowing it. It works more so when it comes to healing emotional issues.

What happens when your friends had just broken up in a relationship? It is always dinner, nights out in town or a short holiday. Why is this so? That is because distraction can prevent them from concentrating on any emotional feeling that they might be having and trust me, things could turn out really bad when some concentrate too much on these emotional feeling..

Unexpectedly, sometimes you may lost track of time or miss lunch altogether when you are overly engross in something. For example: Work, chatting over the phone etc.

Why is this so? Distraction!

When you are focusing on something which you like doing, nothing else around you matters anymore. This is because, by then, all your attention will be on the things that you are doing and everything else becomes secondary. The best part is, everything was being naturally set. I am sure skipping lunch or being late for a meeting was never in your agenda.

Likewise, applying this technique of distraction can make you lose focus in worrying about your anxiety, thus developing a habit to counter this disorder.

The trick to applying this distraction technique is that you need to get engage 100% in life. That is to say, you will need to find an activity that can stimulate and requires your undivided attention. This is more so when you can find something which you really love and enjoy doing.

Do you play sports? Allocate your time and start to introduce them into your life. How about hitting the gym? What hobbies do you have? Are you still being engaged with them now? You can even engage yourself in helping others through social work to move your focus away from anxiety.

The more you do something that you enjoy, the lesser you will “check in” or even think about your anxiety level. Since your time is being used up for your activities, no time is being allocated for you to even think about your anxiety.

In other words, the more activities you have, the more you engage with life. The more you engage with life, the less time you will “check in”. The less time you “check in”, the more you are developing a habit to move away from the disorder.

Doing something you love also builds competency. When you build competency, you are also building your confidence level and improving your self-esteem. In addition, doing something you love shakes off any feelings of loneliness, which are so often accompanied by anxiety.

Engaging with life and doing what you enjoy leaves no room for any anxiety disorders symptoms. The mental space that you have created makes your mind turn their attention away from anxiety, thus creating a state of mind that allows your body to relax and return to its natural state of peace.

A good source to learn how to cure anxiety disorders symptoms is a book by Dr Joe Barry. This is By Far, the best non-prescription Self-Help techniques On Curing and Coping With Anxiety Attacks:

Did you ever sat down on a winter’s day and watched the clouds in the clear sky roll by? It might happen that you become influenced by a stream penetrating along or cascading down over stones, rocks and mountain peaks. Another general picture that is usually provoked by the beautiful sound of meditation gongs is you sitting in a coffee shop looking out of the window and watching people go buy, not really carefully analyzing or observing or thinking too much about anything but at the same time being totally absorbed in the activity and fuss that is taking place around.

Without understanding it we have been experiencing a special state of mind caused by the amazing and exotic sound of meditation gongs, another type of singing bowls that we currently describe on our website. Some people call this meditating, others call it resting ones mind from ordinary daily activities.

In such moments, our brain chatter and critical ideas have turned off temporarily into background and our attention has narrowed itself to a particular scene or object or though. The anxiety or stress level drops and for a short time we let go of those frustrations, problems and issues that might be troubling us. If we are considerably aware of our own internal state of mind, we may also recognize a feeling of peacefulness in our bodies. This is what happens in most of the time after hitting that meditation gong and going back to a contemplative meditation upon one’s life.

This is basically the main aim and goal for those who practice meditation. Peace and quiet certainly help with the achievement of this state but it can be practiced almost anywhere and whenever we want. The best aspect is that as long as you are prepared and can forget about the meditation gongs and meditation bells and you can start meditating right now, immediately. All you need is the willingness to try and start this experience, without any Tibetan singing bowls.

About the Author

I live in USA since childhood but this didn’t stop me to learn everything a person from Tibet should know about ones ancestors, culture and traditions. Blogging about Tibetan singing bowls was the idea of my brother because he thinks we should spread the word about our famous meditation bells and meditation gongs if this might help others heal themselves. May the forces bless you all.

General anxiety disorders which include social anxiety and anxiety attacks can be very daunting for you and those around you.

I have been on many different pills including antidepressants but they had no concrete effects on me and I have the feeling that they made my anxiety worse over time.

This is until I stumbled upon a programme that did not involve any medication at all. The programme was entirely based upon a deep understanding of the mechanisms of anxiety, its effect and how to deal with them.

Our nervous system is a very complex entity and if for some reason it becomes imbalanced then it is entirely possible to rectify it with the help of different methods.

Anxiety is an unpleasant emotional state that has a cause is unclear and is often accompanied by physiological and

behavioral changes similar to those caused by fear. Because of these similarities, sometimes use the terms ‘anxiety’

and ‘fear’ interchangeably.

All people experience fear and anxiety. Fear is an emotional response, physiological and behavior before the

recognition of an external threat (eg, an intruder or a vehicle without control).

Anxiety is a response to stress, such as interruption of an important relationship or find themselves exposed to a

disaster situation with life-threatening.

One theory holds that anxiety can also be a reaction to repressed impulses, sexual or aggressive, threatening

overflowing of psychological defenses that normally keep them under control. Therefore, anxiety indicates the

presence of a psychological conflict.

Anxiety can appear suddenly, such as panic, or gradually over minutes, hours or days. The duration of anxiety can be

very variable, ranging from seconds to years. Its intensity can range from barely noticeable to an anxiety panic

established.

Anxiety acts as an element within a wide range of accommodation responses that are essential for survival in a

dangerous world. A certain degree of anxiety provides an appropriate component of caution in potentially dangerous

situations.

In most cases, the level of anxiety a person experiences appropriate changes and imperceptible over a spectrum of

states of consciousness from sleep to wake up, passing by anxiety and fear and so on.

In some cases, however, the anxiety response system works correctly and is overtaken by events, in which case it

may manifest a disturbance or anxiety disorders.

People react differently to events. For example, some people like to speak in public while others are scared.

The ability to endure the anxiety varies according to the people and can be difficult to determine when it is an

abnormal anxiety. However, when anxiety is present at inappropriate times or is so intense and lasting that it interferes

with normal activities of the person, then it is considered a disturbance.

Anxiety can be so stressful and so interfere with the life of a person that can lead to depression. Some people have

an anxiety disorder by and at the same time, a depression. Others develop first a depression and then a disturbance

or anxiety disorders.
